SINCE Sir Bruce Forsyth died, TV bosses have been desperate to recreate his best shows.
But the BBC made a mess of The Generation Game, while Channel 4 ditched The Price Is Right after just one episode.
Now ITV is getting in on the act, with Play Your Cards Right next in line for a reboot.
Alan Carr will be at the helm, just as he was for C4’s doomed The Price Is Right.
I’m told channel bosses, and production chiefs at Talkback, are shooting a pilot of the show — which Brucie hosted for 16 series from 1980 — before deciding on its future.
A TV source said: “It’s very early days but they have begun work on what the comeback would look like and everyone is excited.
“They’re treading very carefully as they know it’s an iconic format, and was fronted by a legend.
“But Alan is a great fit and is one of the very few current stars with the personality and skills to hold a show like this.
“C4 and the BBC have both failed in their efforts to do a Brucie classic justice, but ITV bosses are hopeful of cracking it.”
It’s only a matter of time before Channel 5 get in on the action, and try to revive You Bet!

AS a magician performing carefully planned tricks at lightning speed, you’d have expected Dynamo to spot this curveball career twist a mile off.
But Bradford’s finest illusionist is heading back to TV with his own series, called Every Trick In The Book.
It’s a spot of much-needed good news for Dynamo, pictured in April, after eating raw chicken in a restaurant this year sparked a severe flare-up of Crohn’s disease, a bowel condition he has suffered from most of his life.
As well as weight gain and a swollen face from medication, a side-effect from the disease was arthritis, which meant he couldn’t even shuffle a pack of cards — a basic task for any magician.
A TV insider said: “It’s fair to say that Dynamo’s had a terrible time in recent months but this might just be the launchpad for a TV comeback that he really needs.
“It is great news for fans.”
Dynamo vows to return to magic with astounding new tricks after battle with Crohn's disease
It is thought the show will be given a primetime slot on Saturday nights, if the pilot episode proves a success with bosses.
Fingers crossed it gets a full series.
Dynamo is Britain’s best trickster, and much better than the tedious Derren Brown.
