How to Get Path of Trag'Oul Unique in Diablo 4
Getting rid of enemy mobs with your favorite character class in Diablo 4 will put your build's skills to the test to prevent them from overwhelming you. Necromancers have an advantage in that they can cover big areas of the map with their Minions, but even they can get too close to the action. Making use of the Bone Prison skill, Necromancers can trap and momentarily stop enemies and even apply status effects that will be detrimental to the enemies trapped inside.
To that end, you can upgrade your Bone Prison skill by finding and equipping the Path of Trag'Oul Unique boots. This guide will go through the many methods that exist to farm this specific Unique item so that you and your Necromancer have the best chances of getting it in Diablo 4.

Infernal Hordes are no joke in Diablo 4. These tips should help players survive their next encounter.
How to Get Path of Trag'Oul Unique in Diablo 4
Season of the Infernal Hordes introduced 15 different Unique items for all classes to pick from, with the Path of Trag'Oul Unique boots being one among them. The best way to farm the Path of Trag'Oul Unique is to run and complete the Infernal Hordes activity and open Spoils of Equipment chests. Unlocking the Infernal Hordes will require you to complete the Diablo 4 seasonal questline called "The Eyes of the Enemy." Right at the end of the questline, you will receive your first Infernal Compass, which is your key to opening the gates of Hell and to the Infernal Hordes.
Opening Spoils of Equipment will depend on your Infernal Hordes performance and how much Burning Aether you pick up. Throughout the Infernal Horde waves, you will need to defeat a specific number of enemies to trigger Aetheric Events. These events will have you defeating powerful units that will drop Burning Aether. Once you complete all waves and defeat the Fell Council bosses at the end, you can then spend Burning Aether to open Spoils of Equipment or Spoils of Greater Equipment chests – 20 and 60 Aether, respectively.
Spoils of Greater Equipment will guarantee that, if you get a Unique as a drop, it will have guaranteed Greater Affixes. However, this type of chest can only appear in Tier 3+ Infernal Compasses in Diablo 4. Farming these Infernal Compasses will require you to complete endgame activities, but you will also need to use Abyssal Scrolls – found in Spoils of Materials chests and by salvaging other Infernal Compasses –, an item that will upgrade your Infernal Compass Tier.
However, if you do not want to play the Infernal Hordes activity, you can choose to farm the Path of Trag'Oul Unique by opening chests or defeating enemies in World Tier 3 or World Tier 4. Increase your chances by completing endgame activities like World Bosses, Nightmare Dungeons, and Gathering Legions, or you can face Grigoire, the Galvanic Saint, since the Path of Trag'Oul is part of this Uber Boss's loot pool. Take a look at the table below to know which materials you need to summon Grigoire (including its Tormented version, which provides better drop opportunities):
Boss | Location | Materials |
---|---|---|
Echo of Varshan (World Tier 3) | Hall of the Penitent, Dry Steppes |
|
Echo of Varshan (World Tier 4) | Hall of the Penitent, Dry Steppes |
|
Tormented Echo of Varshan | Hall of the Penitent, Dry Steppes |
